What is the purpose of a profile?
What is meant by the term custom properties and do I have that capability?
What should be placed in the Address field of the profile?
How do I use the navigation tree?
How do I use the image field in the profile?
How do I perform indexing on my image?

What is the purpose of a profile?

A profile establishes how a given document will be handled by a specific repository it will be directed to. A profile also can be configured to tie any specific scanner function button to a repository. For every unique document there needs to be a profile built to handle that document as needed. Consult the section on Profile Creation in the e4x eCapture Suite Desktop Reference Manual available in the Documentation section of this site.

What is meant by the term “custom properties” and do I have that capability?

Custom properties, also called metadata, provide the ability to reference some specific information and gather that information for later reference via a search function. We can OCR and index content or search on text as defined in the custom properties capability of the e4x profile.

top

What should be placed in the Address field of the profile?

This represents the address of the repository server in either URL or IP address form. This field should be the address of the eRoom server.

top

How do I use the navigation tree?

Once you have successfully logged in to the chosen repository, the navigation tree will be available for you to move within the repository to the destination for your content. As you select your destination, the information will populate the fields above the navigation tree window.

top

How do I use the image field in the profile?

The image pane allows you to either retrieve from disk or scan an image from the scanner in order to perform OCR indexing on that image.

top

How do I perform indexing on my image?

Move your mouse pointer to the area above and left of the target data. Click and drag a box around that data and then release the mouse button. Make sure you completely encase the data for accuracy. For more information, see the section on Profile Creation in the Desktop Reference Manual which can be found in the Documentation section of this site.
